The registration-portal has been operational since mid-November, providing a long window for graduates across all disciplines to transition into the legal field. For the 2026 session, NLSIU is offering its flagship 3-year LLB (Hons), a multidisciplinary BA (Hons), and a Master’s in Public Policy (MPP). Aspirants are reminded that the entire application process is conducted online, and no physical forms will be accepted at the Nagarabhavi campus.

Admission Timeline and Key Dates

The NLSAT 2026 schedule is strictly defined to ensure the academic year can commence on July 1, 2026.

  • Application Deadline: The registration-portal will automatically close at 11:59 PM on March 23, 2026.
  • Examination Date: The all-India entrance test, NLSAT, will be held in offline mode on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
  • Result Declaration: Following the two-stage evaluation of Part A and Part B, the final merit list is expected to be published by the end of May.

Eligibility and Fee Structure

For the 2026 intake, NLSIU has maintained inclusive eligibility criteria to attract a diverse cohort of students.

  • Academic Requirement: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any field with at least 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD). Final-year undergraduate students are also eligible to apply, provided they complete their degree by the time of admission.
  • Application Fees: The fee is set at ₹2,500 for General category candidates and ₹2,000 for those in reserved categories.
  • Mandatory Documents: Every candidate must upload a current Curriculum Vitae (CV) not exceeding two pages, along with standard identification and academic certificates.

NLSAT 2026 Examination Pattern

The entrance test remains a comprehensive 150-minute assessment divided into two distinct parts.

  • Part A (Objective): This section includes 75 multiple-choice questions covering English comprehension, current affairs, and critical reasoning. A candidate must score above zero in this section to be eligible for Part B evaluation.
  • Part B (Subjective): This involves 10 legal reasoning questions and one analytical essay. The university evaluates Part B in a 1:5 ratio, meaning only five students per available seat are shortlisted based on their Part A performance.
  • Selection Criteria: The final rank list is prepared using the cumulative score of both parts, with specific percentile cutoffs (75th for General/EWS and 40th for reserved categories) being applied.
