The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a new notice about who can apply for AIAPGET 2026. The deadline for finishing internships has been moved to October 31, 2026.AIAPGET is the name of the test for postgraduate AYUSH courses. You can find the updated notice at exams.nta.nic.in/AIAPGET. NTA organizes AIAPGET every year to help students get into postgraduate AYUSH programs. These include MD and MS courses in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy. The test is for the 2026-27 academic year.
Before, interns had to finish their training by August 31, 2026. Now, the deadline is extended by two months. People who complete their training by October 31, 2026, can apply. This change came from a suggestion by NCISM, which is the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine. This new rule helps a lot of final-year interns in India. Many were worried they might miss the chance to apply because of delays in their internships. Now, they can take the exam without changing their schedule.

Who is allowed to take AIAPGET 2026?
You must have a qualifying degree in your chosen AYUSH field. You also need to be registered with the proper council. You must finish your internship by October 31, 2026.There is no maximum age limit for taking the test. NTA also said something important about who can take the test. Just because you apply or take the test doesn't mean you’ll get into a program. The final check will happen during counseling by the right authorities.
Looking back at 2023
In 2023, NTA also moved the internship deadline from August 31 to October 31. That time, the change was also because of a request from NCISM. This shows that NTA is willing to be flexible regarding internship timelines.
Steps for Candidates

- Check that your internship ends by October 31, 2026.
- Submit your application online before 9:00 PM on July 30, 2026.
- Pay the application fee by 11:59 PM on July 30, 2026.
- Use the correction window on August 1 and 2 to fix any mistakes.
- Download your admit card when it is released and go to the exam on August 22, 2026.
