The State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell) in Maharashtra has started the registration process for the Direct Second Year Engineering Common Admission Process (MAH DSE CAP) 2026 on the official website, dse2026.mahacet.org.in.

The State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell) in Maharashtra has started the registration process for the Direct Second Year Engineering Common Admission Process (MAH DSE CAP) 2026 on the official website, dse2026.mahacet.org.in. This process allows candidates to apply for lateral entry into the second year of BTech and BE programs in Maharashtra. Candidates with a polytechnic diploma or eligible BSc degrees can register online until July 19, 2026. The CET Cell is conducting the CAP on behalf of the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra. This process fills seats in government, aided, and private engineering colleges. Admission is based purely on the merit of the qualifying examination scores.

Who is eligible to apply

Applicants must have passed a Polytechnic Diploma in Engineering from a recognized board or have a BSc degree with the right subjects. A minimum of 50% in the qualifying exam is required. The merit list is prepared based on the percentage of marks from the final year of the Diploma or BSc. There is no separate entrance exam for lateral entry through this CAP.

How to register for MAH DSE CAP 2026

Registration is entirely online via the DSE 2026 portal. Candidates should have their academic documents, category certificate, and identity proof ready before starting the process.

Steps to register

  1. Visit the official website at dse2026.mahacet.org.in.
  2. Click on the New Registration link on the homepage.
  3. Fill in the personal, academic, and category information on the online form.
  4. Upload a scanned photograph, signature, and all required certificates.
  5. Pay the application fee through the online payment system.
  6. Submit the form and download the acknowledgment receipt.

How will document verification work?

The CET Cell has provided two options for document verification this year. Candidates can choose the one that works best for them during registration. In E-Scrutiny mode, candidates upload scanned copies of their documents, which are then verified online by officers. In Physical mode, applicants need to visit the nearest Facilitation Centre with original documents.Both methods are treated equally for the purpose of the merit list.

  • Visit dse2026.mahacet.org.in and create a new account.
  • Make sure your Diploma or BSc mark sheets, photograph, signature, and category certificate are scanned in advance.
  • Complete the application form and pay the fee before July 19, 2026 at 5 PM.
  • Choose between E-Scrutiny or Physical verification and complete it by July 20, 2026.
  • Check the provisional merit list on July 22 and submit any grievances by July 25 if needed.
  • Review the final merit list on July 27, 2026 and prepare for the CAP rounds.
