Candidates allotted seats in KCET 2026's first round now face a decision that can't be undone once acted on. Following the final allotment results declared on July 15, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has activated the post-allotment window — and buried in the standard fee-payment process is a rule candidates need to read carefully before clicking confirm.

The Rule That Catches Candidates Off Guard

KEA has been explicit on this point: candidates can modify their choices freely within the designated selection window, but the moment admission fees are paid, no further changes are permitted — regardless of the reason. Selecting "Choice 1" and completing payment is treated as final confirmation of that seat. This makes the choice-selection window the real decision point in this process, not a formality before payment.

Four Streams, Four Different Clocks

Unlike a single deadline for all candidates, KEA has staggered the post-allotment schedule by course stream — meaning candidates in different programs are working against entirely different countdowns:

Course StreamChoice Selection WindowFee Payment & Slip DownloadCollege Reporting Deadline
EngineeringJuly 16 (11 AM) – July 20, 2026July 16 (11 AM) – July 21, 2026July 22, 2026 (by 6 PM)
Agricultural Science, VeterinaryJuly 17 (11 AM) – July 20, 2026July 17 (11 AM) – July 22, 2026July 23, 2026 (by 6 PM)
Yoga & Naturopathy, BPT, BPO, Allied Health SciencesJuly 18 (11 AM) – July 21, 2026July 18 (11 AM) – July 22, 2026July 23, 2026 (by 6 PM)
B.Sc (Nursing)July 19 (11 AM) – July 22, 2026July 19 (11 AM) – July 23, 2026July 24, 2026 (by 6 PM)

Engineering candidates are first in line, with their choice window already open and closing on July 20 — giving them the shortest runway of any stream before fee payment closes the following day.

Before You Click "Choice 1"

KEA's guidance is direct on this: candidates should read all instructions thoroughly and ideally consult with parents before finalizing a choice, given that the decision is irreversible post-payment. This matters particularly for candidates weighing whether to accept their current allotment or hold out for a better option in a later round — since paying now forecloses that flexibility entirely.

What Comes After Payment

Once fees are paid and the Seat Confirmation Slip is downloaded during banking hours, the process shifts from online to in-person. Candidates must report to their allotted college by the stream-specific deadline — ranging from July 22 to July 24, 2026 — to complete final admission formalities and document verification.

Which Programmes Are Covered This Round

This round's allotment spans a wide mix of professional courses: Engineering, Architecture, Agricultural Science, Veterinary Science, B.Sc (Nursing), and Allied Health Sciences — meaning candidates across very different career tracks are all navigating the same staggered system this week.

Candidates are advised to log into the official KEA portal without delay, verify their allotment details carefully, and treat the choice-selection window — not the payment step — as the point of no return.
