The Indian Maritime University (IMU) is concluding the online registration for its Second Spot Counselling for MBA programs today, August 7, 2025. This is a final and critical opportunity for aspirants to secure a seat in the university's various postgraduate courses for the academic year 2025-26. The university has scheduled this round to fill the remaining vacant seats in its campuses after the initial counselling rounds.

The Spot Counselling process is unique as it's a physical, on-the-spot admission session. To be eligible to attend this session, candidates must have first registered online by the deadline of 5:00 PM today. A failure to complete the online registration will prevent candidates from participating in the in-person counselling, regardless of their rank or eligibility.

Key Dates and Counselling Process

The entire process for the Second Spot Counselling is designed to be completed swiftly. Here is a breakdown of the important dates and steps:

  • Online Registration: The final deadline for online registration and payment of the registration fee is August 7, 2025.
  • Physical Reporting and Document Verification: All registered candidates must report in person to their chosen IMU campus on August 8, 2025, at 9:30 AM for mandatory certificate verification.
  • Seat Allotment: The on-the-spot seat allotment session will begin at 2:00 PM on the same day, August 8, 2025. Allotment will be based on the candidate's IMU-CET rank and category.

Candidates can choose to attend the counselling at any IMU campus, regardless of where they want to take admission. This provides flexibility for out-of-state aspirants.

Eligibility and Required Documents

This round is open to a wide range of candidates, including:

  • CET-Qualified Candidates: Aspirants with a valid IMU-CET 2025 rank who were not allotted a seat in previous rounds.
  • Non-CET Candidates: The university also allows candidates with valid scores from other national-level entrance exams like CAT 2024, MAT May 2025, or CMAT 2025 to apply, provided they meet the eligibility criteria for the MBA programs.

For the physical document verification on August 8, candidates must carry all their original documents along with one set of photocopies. The essential documents include:

  • Proof of Age (Birth Certificate or Class 10th marksheet)
  • UG Marksheets, Certificates, and Degree
  • Community Certificate (for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, etc.)
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Certificate (if applicable)
  • IMU-CET 2025 Rank Certificate
  • Valid Scorecard of CAT/MAT/CMAT (if applicable)
  • Aadhaar Card and Passport-size photographs
  • Medical Fitness Certificate

Candidates who secure a seat during the on-the-spot counselling must be prepared to pay the admission fee and complete all formalities at the campus itself. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the allotted seat.

The M.Tech programs have also released their seat matrix and are included in this counselling round. The available vacant seats for both MBA and M.Tech programs have been announced on the official website. This Second Spot Counselling is a crucial final step for many aspirants to kickstart their career in the maritime industry.
