The University of Delhi (DU) has formed a six-person committee. This group will look into the admissions for one-year postgraduate (PG) courses. According to reports, the university got around 30,000 applications for just 1,100 available spots. The Dean of Academic Affairs will lead the committee. They have to give their suggestions within ten days. This decision came after a big protest by students at the arts faculty. DU started these one-year PG programs in 2026-27 as part of the NEP 2020. This year, only students who completed the Four-Year Undergraduate Program (FYUP) at DU are eligible to apply. The first batch of FYUP students is now qualified for these master's courses.

Why Is There a Seat Shortage This Year?

The one-year PG program was introduced under NEP 2020. It's meant for students who have finished a four-year undergraduate degree at DU. This year, the first group of FYUP students became eligible for the course. Because of this, the number of applicants has increased quickly. However, the number of seats in different departments hasn't grown fast enough to meet the demand. Only certain programs currently offer the one-year master's option.

How to Apply for DU One-Year PG 2026?

The application process is done through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-PG). Candidates need to use their CUET PG 2026 scores to apply.

Here are the steps to complete the application:

  1. Go to admission.uod.ac.in and open the CSAS-PG dashboard.
  2. Register on the PG portal at pgportal.uod.ac.in using your CUET PG login details.
  3. Fill in your preferred program and upload your FYUP transcripts.
  4. Pay the application fee using the online payment gateway.
  5. Submit the form and check the seat allocation on the portal.

Action Plan for Candidates

  1. Check the official DU admission portal for daily updates.
  2. Finish your CSAS-PG registration before the current application window closes.
  3. Keep your FYUP degree, transcripts, and CUET PG scorecard ready.
  4. Review the seat availability for each program before finalizing your choices.
  5. Follow the CSAS-PG counseling schedule for the next steps in seat allocation and acceptance.
