What Is the New Auto Upgradation Rule?
MCC has made a significant change in the Round 2 upgradation policy. All candidates will now be automatically considered for upgradation, regardless of whether they chose to upgrade in Round 1 or not. Previously, candidates had to explicitly express their willingness to upgrade. However, this requirement has been removed for Round 2. Candidates who want a better seat should therefore fill new choices in Round 2.
How Should Round 1 Allottees Handle Round 2?
Candidates who have been allotted a seat in Round 1 and wish to keep it should not submit any choices in Round 2. Submitting choices will automatically put them into the upgradation process. If a new seat is allocated, their original Round 1 seat will be cancelled. Candidates who are content with their current allotment should skip the choice filling process. This way, their Round 1 admission will remain valid.
Why Was the Schedule Delayed?
The NEET SS 2025 Round 2 counselling was postponed due to an ongoing Supreme Court case related to the reversion of in-service medical seats in Tamil Nadu to the All India Quota pool. MCC has stated that the registration process will remain open until further court decisions are made. Updates on the seat matrix for Tamil Nadu's vacant in-service seats have already been released. Candidates should keep checking the MCC website for any changes related to the court's decision.
